Thinking About Hair Removal? Go The Laser Hair Removal Route.
What is hip and fashionable changes just as fast as you can change your clothes, but one thing on your body remains stylish throughout history, silky skin. Everyone who knows what they’re talking about will tell you that runway style is always secondary to fabulous skin. And barring the latest HD foundations and cosmeceutical lotions, epilation or hair removal is a certain method towards perfect skin.
You can choose from multiple strategies to get rid of the unnecessary fuzz. Take your pick, shave, pluck or slather on a depilatory cream, but you may find that laser hair removal is the most economical and effective.
What exactly is laser hair removal? It is a medical procedure that employs intense pulses of light to remove unwanted hair. These laser beams pass through the skin and damage the individual hair follicle which inhibits future hair growth.
Because it targets melanin, or the pigmentation of the skin, laser hair removal is best for those who have light skin and dark hair. Although there’s little doubt that a solution is around the corner for those with dark skin and lighter hair.
To get the desired results, multiple visits to the dermatologist or licensed hair removal professional are required – especially for larger areas of the body such as the legs or the torso. Laser hair removal can also take a few hours to complete depending on the intensity of the hair and the size of the area. Nevertheless, many believe that the hours you may spend on laser hair removal do outweigh the freedom you feel from razors, depilatory creams and other such hair removal implements. Laser hair removal is also more expensive at first glance, but in the long run, you may see how it is actually more economical than say waxing for example which needs to be done more frequently (and is perhaps more painful!).
It also must be remembered that though laser hair removal will effectively remove the hair, it does not ensure that the hair will not grow back. Permanent hair removal is not yet achievable, but a definite thinning of the hair growth will be noticeable.
Side effects of laser hair removal are few and far between. They are also mostly temporary, take for example slight skin abrasions which you can expect from the intense temperatures of the laser. And since the laser works on melanin, it may cause hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation of the skin, which are the lightening or darkening of your skin. But these issues only arise when the laser hair removal is not done by a trained professional.
If you want to reveal your legs in the latest minis, speak to your dermatologist about laser hair removal. Ask them all your burning questions. Share your thoughts, is laser hair removal in your future?
