Hair Removal for Men: Looking Your Best

Believe it or not, the hairy body style on men in general has moved out, and then back into style countless times over the years. In fact it was the ancient Egyptians who thousands of years ago first practiced the custom of clean shaving virtually every hair off of themselves. Then the disco era arrived.

Back in the swinging disco era, the hairy look on men was in. Gold chains adorned hairy chests and men everywhere were sporting big fuzzy mustaches. The woman of that time fully approved, and just loved to run their fingers through it as they gyrated out on the dance floor.

Then something began to change. Some say it was the growing popularity of Olympic sports that featured male bike riders, and swimmers with shaved legs and chests. Others say that it’s just a natural progression that brought on this latest trend that has hair removal for men back into vogue.

So once again bare hairless skin on men is the look of he day and let there be no doubt that it will be around for some time to come. Today though, men don’t have to suffer with ordinary razors, or do like the Egyptians did. Can you believe that they shaved with chips of obsidian?

So removing unwanted hair for today’s man who’s after this new look brings with it far more choices. Of course there’s still he plastic razor that remains cheap to buy. Even so, newer types of epilation systems that rely on laser technology can be a bit more pricey.

These new cream epilation products do their job by literally dissolving and softening the hair shafts to the point where they can be simply wiped, or scraped off. So how do they do it? The fact is that they do it with the very same caustic substance that comes in common drain cleaner.

Laser systems for epilation have been in use since the early 70s, and have only improved since then. Now it’s one of the most expensive options but these high tech systems do a consistent job of clearing unwanted hair and the results last up to, and over a decade.

Waxing has been in use long before laser and there is some speculation that ancient peoples of Egypt and Mesopotania may have used this system. It works but its painful and it requires many sessions over many months before the actual growth rate becomes stunted.

In the end though, it’s important to remember that a “truly permanent” system for epilation has yet to be developed. Now treatments like laser and electrolysis do deliver results that can last for years and even a decade or more, but in time more treatments will need to be done.
